Le CFOSM (Centre de Formations aux Opérations Spatiales Militaires) a eu le plaisir d'accueillir 35 participants de 17 nations pour assister au cours militaire de présentation de l'espace à Toulouse.
Le CFOSM du Commandement de l’Espace (CDE) a reçu du 3 au 7 juillet 2023 à Toulouse une délégation internationale de 35 participants pour assister à la nouvelle édition du SMOC (Space Mililtary Overview Course).
Il s’agissait du premier cours à visée internationale du Commandement de l’Espace. Basé sur le même principe que le Space Advanced Course, destiné aux personnels MINARM ou partenaires francophones, il permet de dresser un panorama complet du spatial militaire et répond à un triple objectif : donner une compréhension commune du spatial militaire, rappeler les fondamentaux du domaine et créer ou renforcer un réseau de partenaires internationaux.
Ainsi, pendant cinq jours, des experts sont intervenus pour présenter le spatial de défense, ses diverses applications et utilisations et les politiques et stratégies spatiales internationales. Il s’agit d’apporter et de partager la vision française du domaine et de ses évolutions. Trois grands thèmes ont été abordés : l’aspect géopolitique, les technologies et l’utilisation militaire de l’Espace.
Plusieurs activités ont également jalonné ces 5 jours et permis d’illustrer les propos pour donner une image globale du domaine spatial (technologies, industries, institutions), notamment les visites de la Cité de l'Espace et de la société Hemeria. Le stage s’est conclu dans le cadre magnifique du Palais Niel par une remise de diplômes.
Tous les stagiaires des pays étrangers sont sortis pleinement satisfaits de cette séquence, du fait de la qualité des intervenants et des activités proposées. Forte de ce succès, cette première édition sera donc reconduite en Juin 2024.
Un grand merci à tous nos experts et partenaires industriels pour avoir travaillé main dans la main avec le CFOSM afin de mettre en place ce premier stage au profit des partenaires internationaux du Commandement de l’Espace.

The CFOSM, the Space Operations Education and Training Centre of the French Space Command, was pleased to welcome 35 participants from 17 nations to attend to the Space Military Overview Course (SMOC), which held in Toulouse from July 3rd to 7th, 2023. It was the first international course of the French Space Command. Based on the same principles as the Space Advanced Course, a course targeting the French Ministry of Defence staff of the French-speaking partners, it aims at giving a full overview of the military space domain, and has a triple goal: to give a common understanding of the military space domain, to remind the fundamental aspects of the domain, and to create and enhance an international partners’ network.
Hence, for five days, experts presented defence in space, its diverse applications and uses and the international policies and space strategies. It aimed at bringing and sharing the French point of view of the domain and its evolutions. It dealt with three main subjects : geopolitical aspect, technologies and military use of space.
Several activities staked out these five days, and gave the opportunity to illustrate the conferences to give a global picture of the space domain (technologies, industries, institutions), particularly the visits at Cité de l’Espace, and at the company Hemeria. The course concluded in the magnificent frame of Palais Niel with a graduation ceremony.
All the participants from the foreign countries went out completely happy from this sequence, because of the lecturer quality and of the offered activities. Following this strong success, this first edition will therefore be renewed in June 2024.

This training fully in English on the military space domain is part of the training catalog of the French Space Defense Academy (ASD), established on June 21st, 2023. ASD is made of 3 entities united in a partnership: Institut Supérieur de l’Aéronautique et de l’Espace (ISAE-SUPAERO), Ecole de l’Air et de l’Espace (EAE) and CFOSM. This partnership aims at proposing a clear and common offer of academic and operational trainings on the space domain.
